“Why group workout classes”…?
When I came out of rowing and initially had no major reason for training, no new goal I’d set myself, I tried a few things to see what would be the most fun way to exercise in a group,
I’d done blocks of personal training before which was always a fantastic investment and I learnt a vast amount which I could take with me.
Most people cant afford personal training. Most people can’t afford small group training for a significant amount of time. I saw so much bad movement going on in a lot of group exercise, particularly as the challenge went up. Moving well is at the heart of what I do.
I thought: “there are people who want to exercise well in a likeminded group and reap all the benefits, why not ensure this general training which anyone can do, can be tailored and programmed in safe ways, and people can get stronger and fitter. Not rocket science?!”
Giving enough attention to the individuals 1-1 within the group, during the class, to ensure the appropriate range of motion for them is used, load, intensity, rest, all ensuring quality of movement, laying the foundation for lifelong development for whatever activities they may do.
